Patharkhmah Food Security Project – Food Resource Bank (FRB):
The Patharkhmah Food security Project was initiated in 2009. The main aim of the project is to help the communities utilize the natural resources in a profitable and sustainable way to achieve livelihood and food security at the household level. The main components of the Project are: 1) System of Rice Intensification (SRI), 2) Sloping Agriculture Land Technology (SALT) and 3) Kitchen garden and low cost compost.
Addressing Poverty through Sustainable Livelihood Promotion (APSLP):
The project is carried out in the villages Parang – Taw under Sagalee circle, Papumpare district, Arunachal Pradesh funded by Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust. The project is facilitating / helping farmers in adoption of improved cultivation practices of rice and maize, where every farmer will participate and share their ideas on ways of proper cultivation. The farmers will get the chance to demonstrate their learning’s and at the same time encourage their neighbours about their new and improved methods of systematic cultivation. The components of the project are as follows:
- Resource Assessment, Baseline and Planning.
- Formation of Farmers’ groups.
- Building capacity for farmers’ groups.
- Identifying and establishing Demonstration plots for upland and wetland cultivation.
- Water harvest system.
- Farmers’ training on Vermicompost and multicropping.
- Cultivation with Improved seeds for Rice and Maize.
- Consultant for Technical Backstopping.
Churachandpur Area Intergrated Development Project (CAIDP):
The project works in the villages of Churachandpur District, Manipur. There are 6 major components in the project i) Capacity building through VDC and ADC ii) SALT technology iii) Livestock/seeds provision and agricultural training iv) Health awareness v) Land and environmental awareness training & vi) Income generation program through SHG. World Relief Canada/ Canadian Foodgrain Banks is our donor and Rural Women Upliftment Society (RWUS), Churachandpur, Manipur is our partner.
