‘Capacity Building’

AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON CLIMATE CHANGE

NEICORD in partnership with EFICOR organized two awareness programmes on Climate Change with Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association (TBCA) and Churches in Kohima Town, Nagaland, on 17th February and 21st February respectively. The programme addressed the different impacts of Climate Change at a national and international level, identified local and pressing environmental issues with the help of local resource persons, and Churches’ responsibility to take care of creation in every way possible.

ADVOCACY PROGRAM & EVENING FORUM

NEICORD and Micah Challenge India conducted Advocacy & campaign program in Shillong on the 4th of August 2012. The objective of the program was to introduce Micah movement and challenge the participants to raise their voice for the poor. 21 key church leaders have attended the day program and 12 Christian government officers attended the evening forum.

CLIMATE CHANGE WORKSHOP

NEICORD conducted Climate Change workshop in a Christian perspective in partnership with EFICOR, New Delhi and Church of Jesus Christ, Shillong on the 4th & 5th October 2012. The objective of the workshop was capacity building of the church leaders on the understanding of climate change and environmental degradation risk and adaptation assessment methods. Altogether 38 participants from 12 churches and Christian institution/ organization attended the workshop. The two day sessions were facilitated by EFICOR and NEICORD team. WORKSHOP FOR PROMOTING INTEGRAL MISSION

NEICORD conducted workshop for promoting Integral mission at Emmanuel Hospital Association Partner Church in Tezpur and Nepali Christian Fellowship Church, Shillong from 26 – 28 September 2012 and 2nd October 2012. The workshop at Tezpur focused on ‘Girl Child & Trafficking. Altogether 91 church leaders were capacitated during these two programs. The sessions helped the participants to examine how much their local churches have involved in serving the poor. It also encouraged them to deepen their involvement. COMMUNITY BASED DISASTER MANAGEMENT SEMINAR

43 participants representing 6 different communities attended seminar program on Disaster Management on the 18th August 2012. This was a joint program organised by NEICORD and State Disaster Management Authority, Government of Meghalaya, the first was conducted on the 18th August 2012. Seminar topics included: Understanding Disaster Disaster Management Act Seven Steps of Earthquake Safety First Aid for Emergency situation Role of Civil society and FBO’s in disaster preparedness and response The sessions were facilitated by NEICORD team, Instructor EMRI Meghalaya and Head faculty of Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute
